Germany / Millions to be spent for WTE Bremen
swb Entsorgung GmbH (a swb AG subsidiary) plans to invest millions in its waste-to-energy plant in Bremen. The two-digit million investment includes a CO2-free increase of the plant\'s energy production. After an extensive modernisation from 2001 to 2005, swb now plans to optimise the overall system. The plant should produce three times the amount of electricity at a consistent waste volume. WTE Bremen generates 200,000 MWh of district heating and 75,000 MWh of base load electricity. For this purpose, up to 550,000 tons of waste are incinerated each year.
