UK / Incinerator may be built in Aberdeenshire
Sita UK won a GBP 200 million contract to dispose of all of Aberdeenshire’s residential and business waste. The company announced that Stoneyhill landfill on the outskirts of Peterhead would be used to dump all of the region’s non-recyclable waste (approxmately 100,000 tons a year). The new contract may result in new plans for an incinerator, after plans for a plant in Peterhead by Buchan Combined Heat and Power were refused earlier this year. A Sita spokesman said that incineration has not been ruled out as an option to deal with Aberdeenshire\'s waste.
