Austria / Waste management industry met CO2 guidelines
According to the 2010 climate protection report of the Federal Environment Office, Austria\'s waste management industry fulfilled the guidelines of the national climate strategy in 2008. In that year, the Austrian greenhouse gas balance amounted to 86.6 million tons of CO2 equivalents. The waste management sector emitted approximately 2.02 million tons of CO2 equivalents. Hence, the target value of 2.1 million tons was even surpassed. According to the report, further expansion is planned for the waste incineration plants. Consequently, emissions have to be expected at least in the WTE sector.
