Canada / Problems in Plasco\'s WTE test plant in Ottawa
According to the Ontario ministry of the environment, Plasco\'s WTE demonstration plant in Ottawa is struggling with smog-causing emissions. Since the demonstration plant has started operations in January 2008, it has chalked up a total running time of only 85 hours, because the company has not been able to keep the level of pollutants in the exhaust below the regulatory limits. Plasco CEO Rod Bryden announced that the company will not open a full-scale plant until the pollution problems are solved. Plasco wants to build a plant which processes 400 tons of waste a day, generating 20 MW of energy.
